Land one thousand flip tricks on flat — that’s the ambitious (and possibly impossible) endeavor Jamie Griffin has taken on. For a year now, all alone and often in the wind and rain, he’s been exploring the extremities of skateboarding’s combinatorial logic from a weathered patch of concrete in northwest Ireland, uploading his progress one hundred tricks at a time. To track that progression (which, by extension, is skateboarding’s), all the landed tricks are compiled in this sortable digital compendium.
The project’s methodical nature makes it no less magical. Has charting the constellations made the Milky Way any less marvelous? From the pastoral fields that pile up on the horizon behind Jamie’s driveway, the stars must seem infinite. And so close you could reach out and catch one, put it down bolts and ride away clean, a thousand times a thousand times.
